heirloom tomato
Heirloom tomato, what a great slicing tomato!

On the gray ,damp, chilled-to-your-bones kinda days like we have today, and will be having for at least 2 more months, I think of things like heirloom tomatoes still warm from the sun. And I think of the bumble bees busily working to harvest the pollen and nectar. And the flowers that smell like honey!! Mmmmmm, summer! Can hardly wait!

  1. I can’t wait either! I am living in a small apartment in NY but I have a little bit of roof space do you have any suggestions on how I could grow tomatoes in a pot? Is there any other produce that you think would be able to thrive in a small space? Thank you so much!

  2. Hey! Roof space, how wonderful! I have some clients here in Annapolis that I have growing spinach, greens,& lettuce in a pot. And up a trellis,in a pot, they are doing sweet peas & squash & tomatoes. They live in condos. So have the space limitations also. You can layer the vegs. Starting the summer veg indoors & direct sowing the spring veg..As the spring veg are dying out plant the summer (squash & tomato)in front or behind the spring veg.. With compost of course!(it’s all in the soil) And you can continue the harvest. Then come fall do the interplanting again. This is a beautiful system! Enjoy!!
